About Me
Hello, my name is Courtney Davis-Persaud, LPC and I am the founder of Illuminate Mental Health, LLC. I created this practice with the hopes that I can help someone during their dark times and encourage them to pass the light to others. This world can be dark, but if each person can lift up their light, then the world will be a brighter place. By using the knowledge, experience, and techniques I have learned throughout my career, I will help guide you to find your light again.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I have over 8 years of experience in the mental health field in several different types of mental health settings. From community mental health, crisis assessments, inpatient psychiatric therapy, to prison-based mental health treatment, I have gained a diverse set of skills and knowledge that I use in my sessions to help others. As the former lead therapist
for the Specialized Mental Health Treatment Unit (SMHTU) in the State Prison, I am an expert in suicide prevention, self-harm, personality disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, preventing recidivism, and coping with re-entering the community once released from jail/prison. However, I also treat anxiety, depression, PTSD & trauma, ADD/ADHD, psychosis, anger management, stress, relationship issues, family conflict, and much more. Though I use several different evidence-based therapeutic frameworks and modalities in my sessions, I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, and Strength-based approaches. By using these different approaches, not only do I help you process and understand your personal struggles, but also facilitate healing & restoration based on your individual needs throughout your recovery journey.
My services include individual therapy (ages 13-65), family therapy, marriage/couples therapy, and group therapy/workshops (when available). My sessions are completed virtually using a secure telehealth platform. I also provide sessions outside normal business hours to allow my clients to have the flexibility to complete their sessions after they get off of work.
I treat my clients with empathy, sincerity, and respect and strive to empower my clients to find their own way towards recovery. I understand that it can be difficult to take the first steps towards change and speak to someone. However, please take comfort in knowing that our sessions will be a safe and judge-free therapeutic environment. I am here to guide you in finding your light again and I will be there to support you in your journey. When you are ready, feel free to contact me for a free 15-minute initial consultation.
I can’t wait to meet you.
